Rules

Registration

It's easy to join a QuickLadder.  When you find a ladder, click the Join Ladder button, complete the registration forms and pay the registration fee via Paypal.

Starting Rank

After successfully registering and paying for the ladder, you will be immediately positioned on the ladder chronologically in order of registration.  Ladder administrators reserve the right to move players up and down in order to seed the ladder - or they may allow players to challenge any player on the ladder for a period of time to help settle positions.   Speak to your ladder administrator for more information.

Ladder Rules

Ladder administrators determine

  • how many positions above and below ladder players may challenge and
  • how many challenges you may have pending at any given time
  • how long a player has to accept a challenge
  • how long a player has to record a score for an accepted challenge (rather, play the match.)

Check your ladder rules for these details by clicking on the Rules link in the QuickLinks area of your ladder.  Ladder rules are also included in every email sent to players during the ladder.

Creating a Challenge

To challenge a player, login and click the tennis ball beside the player you want to challenge.  Specify date, time and location for the match.  You may also provide up to 2 alternative dates/times/locations. An email will be sent to both the defender and challenger.

Acknowleging a Challenge

NOTE:  QuickLadder is designed so that players must accept all challenges or forfeit.  Your ladder administrator may choose to relax these restrictions.   Check your specific ladder rules for details about challenge expiration and time to report scores.

If you are challenged, you'll receive a challenge email from the ladder administrator.  Return to QuickLadder and login to your account.  The challenge will appear in the Challenging Me section of your ladder dashboard.  Click on the ladder to either:

  1. Accept the Challenge - you may accept the date(s) offered or call the player to set another time.
  2. Decline the Challenge with a Reason - use this option if you'd like to play, but cannot do within the time frame specified in the ladder rules.   Your challenger has the option of RESCINDING the challenge.  However, your challenger may take the opportunity to force you to forfeit.  That's the way it goes.
  3. Forfeit - you may choose to forfeit if you know you're unable to play and don't want to ask your challenger to rescind the challenge.

Playing Matches

Your ladder administrator will specify how many sets determine a match.  Refer to your specific ladder rules for details.

Reporting Scores

You and your opponent can determine who will enter the score.  (Usually, the winner is more eager to report the score than the loser.)  Your ladder administrator will determine how long you have to report a score if a ladder has been accepted in the QuickLadder system.  If you don't report the score within the specified time period, the defender will be forced to forfeit the match.   The challenger will take the defender's spot and the defender will move down one position.

Weather

QuickLadder doesn't know when it's raining.  If you're challenging another player and it's raining, the sportsman-like thing to do is Rescind the challenge and challenge the player again.   Otherwise, your defender may be forced to forfeit if the match expires.
